Mohamad Takwa has read Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Milano-Bicocca. He completed his PhD at KTH in 2010. In 2011 he joined Lund University on a postdoctoral research fellow. In 2014 Mohamad started his career as an entrepreneur by co-founding Bioextrax AB (publ), a biotech start-up active in the field of bioplastic production and biowaste valorization. Mohamad has co-founded several successful biotech and cleantech start-ups like: Thyrolytics, Spermosens (publ), Avsalt and Viraspec.
Simon Elsässer has read Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Tübingen and Harvard University. He performed his thesis research in the Laboratory of Chromatin and Epigenetics headed by Lasker and Breakthrough Prize Awardee Dr. David Allis. Since 2015, he was a Science for Life Laboratory Fellow, Ming Wai Lau Fellow and Assistant Professor at Karolinska Institutet. In 2019, he was promoted to Associate Professor and named Wallenberg Academy Fellow as well as SSF Future Research Leader.
Having obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from RV College in Bangalore, India, Banushree Kumar moved to Lund university in 2013 to study Molecular Biology and genetics. For her thesis project she investigated bacterial transposition in the laboratory of OrsolyaBarabas at EMBL,Heidelberg. In 2016 she joined Simon Elsässer lab as a graduate (PhD) student and has worked on developing novel quantitative methods to study chromatin dynamics.
Isak Edvardsson has a degree in Business Administration and Financing from Lund University. He is a business developer that holds a vast and diverse network in the Skåne innovation system. Isak has helped several startups through the early stages and formed their short- and long-term strategy.
Eva Soto Afonso studied Biochemistry in the Autonomous University of Madrid. After her graduation in 2019 she moved to Stockholm where she completed the master’s programme in Molecular Techniques in Life Science. Eva joined the Simon Elsässer lab in January 2021 for her master thesis and has been working since then on the Epigenica technology.
